Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

C1’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

We believe that diversity of thought, perspective, and background are key ingredients to personal fulfillment and business success. At C1, we are committed to building a workforce that represents the world in which we live, and understand that only then will we reach our highest level of achievement as an organization. We recognize that we will achieve greater success by providing team members with an environment that respects the dignity of every individual, fosters trust, and allows every team member the ability to nurture their talent as individuals and as part of a collaborative team.

C1 was recently recognized as one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity 2024 by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group, demonstrating our commitment to developing and supporting a diverse workforce through our culture and values, initiatives and policies, and working environments.

Acting with Purpose

Historically Black Colleges + Universities

C1 has partnered with a number of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to cultivate students for careers in the technology industry. C1 will work with these institutions to invest in future leaders by sponsoring internships, providing immersive shadowing programs, and offering educational opportunities that will introduce students to the company’s culture and career paths.

Out in Tech

C1 employees are serving as mentors to young adults through Out in Tech, a non-profit organization that unites the LGBTQ+ tech community by creating opportunities for its more than 40,000 members to advance their careers, grow their networks, ensure inclusion in the industry, and leverage technology for social change. Mentors work closely with mentees to help prepare them with career development, technical training, and professional networking.

Code.org

C1 partnered with Code.org to provide computer science education to underserved students, level the playing field and close the earning gap for women and minorities in tomorrow’s technology workforce, and create a computing workforce that more closely resembles the world in which we live.

Women in Tech

C1 is a corporate member of Women in Technology (WIT), an organization focused on advancing women in technology – from the classroom to the boardroom. Through our partnership, we provide 25 membership opportunities to C1 employees, giving them access to a global network of professionals, training webinars, workshops, and conferences.

Feeding America

C1 partnered with Feeding America for a Community Food Drive to donate non-perishable food items to local food banks, pantries, and drives.

Lifeworks

C1 has partnered with Lifeworks for more than 20 years to provide individuals with disabilities with long-term careers. C1 has a dedicated team of Lifeworks associates who are responsible for cleaning, repairing, and assembling phones.

Team Rubicon

C1’s partnership with Team Rubicon – a veteran-led organization that helps the world's most vulnerable communities prepare, respond and recover from natural disasters and humanitarian crises – began in 2021. We believe strongly in Team Rubicon's work to provide support to those who need it most and their commitment to our veterans.

CEO Action Pledge

C1 is proud to be a signatory of CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity, equity and inclusion within the workplace. It is comprised of 1,000+ companies and organizations across industries, geographies, size and scale.

As part of this commitment, we pledge to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected and where employees feel comfortable and encouraged to discuss diversity, equity and inclusion. Part of the ways we do this is through implementing four key actions:

  • Continue to cultivate workplaces that support open dialogue on complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Implement and expand unconscious bias education
  • Share best-known—and unsuccessful—actions
  • Create and share strategic inclusion and diversity plans with our board of directors

An Ongoing Effort + Impact

C1 recognizes the value of developing the tools necessary for individuals to use their voices to impact change and commit against racism, hate and injustice.

As a result, C1 provides Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training to help managers recognize and mitigate common forms of bias, maximize value of diverse perspectives and experiences, and use their team’s unique strengths to support organizational goals. C1 also offers Unconscious Bias and Managing Bias trainings to explore how judgments and behaviors toward others that employees may not be aware of can impact both their workplace and personal experiences.
